- THE CITY AUDITOR'S
OFFICE
- Processes payments, payroll
and prepares all the financial reports for
the City.
- Is
responsible for auditing and reconciliation
of books and accounts, approval and payment
of bills, auditing of cash balances of all
departments and preparation of required
financial reports for the City and the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts.
- Monitors the budget and
notifies department heads if expenditures
exceed appropriations.
- Provides monthly written
statements to the mayor, treasurer, department
supervisors and the city council that show
appropriations, expenditures and unexpended
balances.
- Accounts for the receipt
and disbursement of cash transactions.

TO UPGRADE AUDITING SOFTWARE
New system will increase efficiency and
accuracy
Mayor Carlo DeMaria Jr. is pleased to report
that the City is launching an extensive upgrade
to its accounting system. Vadar, the system
currently used by the City, will be replaced
by a new integrated municipal application
called SoftRight. (read
