DESCRIPTION:City of Everett Hosting Annual Memorial Day Flag Placement\nMayor Asks Residents to Help Place Flags on Veterans’ Graves\n \nMayor Carlo DeMaria\, in collaboration with Antoine Coleman\, the City of Everett’s Director of Veterans’ Affairs\, is pleased to announce the City of Everett will be hosting the annual event to place U.S. flags on veteran marked graves at Glenwood and Woodlawn Cemeteries. \nMayor DeMaria is asking residents to take part in the special task of honoring those who served our country and are now laid to rest by helping place flags on the graves of veterans. Many of these heroes gave their lives for our freedom while on active duty and it’s important to never forget their sacrifice. \n“If you haven’t had the opportunity to join us for this effort before\, it is a truly humbling experience to be reminded of the sacrifices that the men and women from our very own community were willing to make to defend our country and our freedom\,” said Mayor DeMaria. “Placing flags is a small\, but important way for us to thank and remember the individuals who have gone before us for their service.” \nVolunteers are asked to meet at the following locations and times: \nGlenwood Cemetery (Washington Ave.\, Everett\, MA 02149): \n\nTuesday\, May 9: 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.\n\nWoodlawn Cemetery (302 Elm St.\, Everett\, MA 02149): \n\nTuesday\, May 16: 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.\nWednesday\, May 17: – 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.\n\nIf you are able to participate\, please contact Antoine Coleman\, Director of Veterans’ Affairs\, at Antoine.Coleman@ci.everett.ma.us. DESCRIPTION:Mayor Carlo DeMaria is pleased to announce the City of Everett’s 2023 Memorial Day Service will take place on Monday\, May 29\, at 10 a.m. at Glenwood Cemetery. The entrance to the cemetery is located on Washington Avenue. \nEmceed by Director of Veterans Affairs Antoine Coleman\, the event will honor veterans of our armed services who have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect our country’s freedom. Those who attend will have the opportunity to hear from guest speakers and pay tribute to those who served our country and are no longer with us. \nThe City of Everett invites residents to attend this Memorial Day Service to remember our country’s fallen heroes. Those who plan to attend are asked to meet at the Gold Star Pavilion/gazebo where the service will take place. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
