In order to reach this goal\, the Mayor is asking residents to join in on this community effort to help beautify key areas in the city. \nChoose a Park\nThe five parks that participants can choose from are: \n\nEdith Street Park: 117 Edith Street\, Everett\, MA 02149 (in front of the Lafayette School.\nFlorence Street Park (Big Flo): At the corner of Chelsea Street and Florence Street.\nGlendale Park: 50 Elm Street\, Everett\, MA 02149.\nGlenwood Cemetery: Entrance is located on Washington Avenue\, Everett\, MA 02149.\nSwan Street Park: At the corner of Swan Street and Kinsman Street.\n\nThose who participate will have the opportunity to help clean a park of their choosing. DESCRIPTION:This year’s Everett Spring Cleanup will be a true community event where local organizations and their members have volunteered their time to join together as one committee and remove litter from our streets. Each organization will base out of their own location and pick up trash wherever it is spotted in their area. \nAny resident that would like to participate is encouraged to do the same in their own neighborhood if they choose\, or they can join any of the groups listed below between the hours of 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Registration is not required. \nThe day will culminate with a barbecue lunch at Glendale Park at 12:00 PM. Participants are encouraged to take photos of their participation and send them to everettspringcleanup2025@ci.everett.ma.us. DESCRIPTION:Mayor Carlo DeMaria is pleased to announce that the City of Everett will host the Juneteenth Celebration event on Thursday\, June 19\, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.\, at Baldwin Avenue Park (14-16 Baldwin Avenue). \nAll are welcome to unite in celebration of Juneteenth with live music\, food\, and activities to partake in. The event will feature live performances by DJ Troy\, Janey David\, Big Redd’s House\, Rey Royale\, and The Brothers Walk to create an unforgettable day of music and unity. \nJuneteenth\, which is a national holiday recognized on June 19 in the United States\, celebrates when in 1865 Union Army General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston\, Texas to tell enslaved African Americans they are now free. This was one of the last places in the United States to free slaves after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued by President Abraham Lincoln on January 1\, 1863. The day commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and recognizes the ongoing efforts to ensure freedom and equality for all. \nThe City will be joining in celebrations across the country by hosting this free event for the community to come together and participate in. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

DESCRIPTION:Mayor Carlo DeMaria is pleased to announce that the City of Everett’s annual Independence Day Celebration will be held on Sunday\, June 29\, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Glendale Park (50 Elm Street). \nThere will be many activities for everyone to partake in throughout the evening with a barbecue from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.\, live entertainment\, face painting\, balloon creations\, inflatable attractions\, and prizes for all. To end the evening\, the grand finale will be the spectacular fireworks show to light up the night sky with so many bright colors. \nDoll Carriage\, Bicycle\, and Wagon Decorating Contest\n \nTo kick off our Independence Day event\, the Everett City Council will once again be hosting this great Everett tradition. This age-old contest will allow participants to use their imagination and decorate their choice of carriage\, bicycle\, stroller or wagon in whichever manner you choose and have their entry paraded in front of our stage at the event. It is recommended that participants arrive with their entry between 5:30 p.m. and 5:55 p.m. to ensure they’re included. \nPlease note: Contestants must be age 13 or younger to participate. \nFamilies\, friends and neighbors are encouraged to come together to enjoy a fun-filled evening. While attendees are encouraged to participate in all this event has to offer\, the fireworks show will begin at 9:30 p.m. for those who are just interested in the show. \nIndependence Day is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence\, which was ratified by the Second Continental Congress on July 4\, 1776. America declared its independence from Great Britain to officially become an independent nation. The City will be joining in celebrations across the nation to commemorate America’s 249th anniversary. \nRain Date\nIf this event is postponed due to inclement weather\, the rain date is scheduled for Monday\, June 30 at the same time and location.
