DESCRIPTION:City of Everett to Debut New Photo Exhibit and Documentary at Parlin Library in Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month\nThe exhibit and documentary will provide a glimpse into the lives of eight Latina women and their harrowing journey to the United States \nMayor Carlo DeMaria is pleased to announce the City of Everett will host an opening celebration for a new exhibit and documentary screening entitled “Mariposas: Profiles of Strength\, Courage\, and Wisdom” on Thursday\, Sept. 26 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Parlin Memorial Library (410 Broadway). \nAs part of the City of Everett’s celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month\, all are welcome to view a photo exhibit and screening of a 45-minute documentary that will provide a glimpse into the lives of eight Latina women who made the journey to the United States under harrowing circumstances for a better life. The photographs highlighted in the exhibit feature the women holding objects that tell their story best without words. In addition to the exhibit and documentary\, the celebration will include a performance by Adriana Herrera and a chance to hear from the subjects of the exhibit\, the women themselves. \nSponsored by the City of Everett’s Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion (DEI) Department\, this multimedia production continues the City’s “Everett for Everyone” initiative by making space for conversations about immigration\, access\, and acceptance in Everett and society in general. \nThe exhibit will be available from Sept. 26 through Oct. 14 during regular business hours at the Parlin Memorial Library. The documentary will also be available to watch on Everett Community Television (ECTV) this fall. DESCRIPTION:All are welcome to join the City of Everett as Mayor Carlo DeMaria and family throw the switch and light up the beautiful Christmas tree to kick off the holiday season with the most wonderful celebration of the year! \nFun for All\nThere will be plenty for all to enjoy including live musical performances\, train rides\, holiday characters\, face painting\, balloon creations\, food\, giveaways and even a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus directly from the North Pole. They will arrive down Broadway at approximately 5pm\, led by the Everett Police and Fire Departments and Everett High School’s award-winning band! All of this\, and so much more can be expected at this magical celebration. \nWatch a Holiday Classic by the Fire Pit\nNeed a break from the hustle and bustle of the event? Come sit around our fire pits with hot chocolate and popcorn while watching a classic holiday movie on the large LED screen. \nPhotos with Santa & Mrs. Claus\nThere will be photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Parlin Library and your child can enjoy arts and crafts and storytelling with while waiting for your turn to see Santa! \nAll residents and their families are invited to attend this magical celebration as we spread holiday cheer throughout the City.
