SUMMARY:9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Mayor Carlo DeMaria invites all residents to join us in remembering the victims of 9/11 on Monday\, Sept. 11\, at 9:15 a.m.\, at the 9/11 Memorial located at the Parlin Library\, 410 Broadway. \nThe City will be hosting a remembrance ceremony to honor the memory of the 2\,977 people who were killed due to the Sept. 11 attacks on our country. The event will have guest speakers to deliver their remarks\, a moment of silence for the victims at the time of the attacks and light refreshments at the conclusion of the ceremony. \n“We must never forget the thousands of innocent lives that were taken on that terrible day\,” said Mayor DeMaria. “I encourage everyone in our community to gather with us in remembrance of all those we lost on 9/11.” \nOn the morning of Sept. 11\, 2001\, terrorists hijacked four commercial planes\, deliberately crashing two of the planes into the upper floors of the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center and a third plane into the Pentagon in Arlington\, Virginia. The fourth plane crashed into an empty field in western Pennsylvania due to passengers fighting back and stopping the plane from reaching the intended target of the hijacker. The attacks killed 2\,977 people. Since then\, the day is remembered annually to honor and never forget the victims and their families along with the heroes who put their lives on the line to help others. \n\n\n\n\n \n NameThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Help Us Improve Our WebsiteDid you find what you needed today?\n \n \n Yes\n \n \n \n No\n Great!Anything we can improve on this page?Sorry about that. How can we improve this page?

SUMMARY:BLACK HISTORY MONTH EVENT - Seeds. Roots. Branches: A Living History of Black Families in Everett
DESCRIPTION:Mayor Carlo DeMaria invites all residents to join us for this event as part of the City of Everett’s celebration of Black History Month. \nThe event will include a photo exhibit\, curated by Everett residents in partnership with the City\, providing a glimpse into the memories and experiences of Black families with a long history of living in Everett through images of home life in “The Village” or “The Bottoms\,” to portraits of leaders in the community and beyond. The series provides the viewer with an opportunity to learn more about Black families who have had a presence in Everett – some for nearly two hundred years. The curators hope this exhibit will encourage more dialogue and exchange in Everett among all people and strengthen the bonds of community. The exhibit will be up for viewing February 11\, 2023 – March 3\, 2023. \n\n\n\n \n CommentsThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Help Us Improve Our WebsiteDid you find what you needed today?\n \n \n Yes\n \n \n \n No\n Great!Anything we can improve on this page?Sorry about that. How can we improve this page?
