Public Works
The Department of Public Works (DPW) is responsible for a variety of City services including the collection, transportation and disposal of solid waste, snow removal, plowing and sanding, street sweeping, upkeep and repairs to sidewalks and streets, maintenance of parks and playground, city-wide tree maintenance and planting, anti-graffiti efforts, pavement marking maintenance, signage and traffic signalization, storm water system maintenance and drainage repairs, and the maintenance of Glenwood Cemetery.
Function
Included as part of the Department of Public Works are: Engineering, Facilities Management, Fleet Maintenance, Municipal Infrastructure (which includes Glenwood Cemetery, Highway, and Parks), and Water Department.

Engineering
The Engineering Division of DPW is responsible for improving and expanding sewer and stormwater infrastructure, as well as street, sidewalk, and park design layout. It also oversees engineers consultants, provides design review and recommendations on new projects to the Planning Board, approves all state and local water and sewer connection permits, maintains as-built plans and records of City infrastructure, performs limited surveying of street lines and properties, and prepare plans, specifications and supervises construction of small projects.

Municipal Infrastructure
The Municipal Infrastructure Division of DPW is comprised of Highway, Parks, and Cemetery.
Highway Division
The Office of Highway is primarily responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all city streets and sidewalks. We also install new sidewalks as needed, repair potholes and other asphalt issues/concerns throughout Everett. This would include all municipal lots in Everett, as well.
Parks Division
The Office of Parks is responsible for the maintenance, repairs and upkeep of the various parks and public /municipal areas in Everett. We are also responsible for coordinating all scheduling of events, athletic or otherwise in these areas.
Cemetery Division
The Office of Cemetery is responsible for the maintenance, upkeep and scheduling for the Glenwood Cemetery, Everett’s public cemetery. This would include all burials, funerals, and memorial events at Glenwood.

Parks, Fields and Facility Permits
The City of Everett offers permits for the use of parks, athletic fields, and recreational facilities to ensure organized and equitable access for community events, sports leagues, and gatherings. Permits are required for activities such as league practices or games, special events, and private functions. Our goal is to maintain safe, high-quality spaces while prioritizing youth programs and Everett-based organizations. For availability, guidelines, and application details, please see below.

Water & Sewer
Mission is to provide reliable, high quality, safe and clean drinking water as well as reliable sewer services at a reasonable cost with superior customer service. The Water & Sewer Department Operates and Maintains the City of Everett’s water distribution System and Wastewater collection system.
Water System information
Drinking water enters the City from the MWRA’s Water distribution in 5 locations throughout the City. The City’s Water distribution system consist of approximately 70 Miles of Pipe ranging from 2 to 24” in diameter, 1800 valves, 724 fire hydrants, and over 8,200 service connections.
Wastewater Collection System
The City’s Wastewater collection system consist of approximately 70 miles of pipe ranging from 6 to 36”. All of the City’s Wastewater travels via gravity through city pipes and then enters the MWRA’s Waste water Collection System
