Position Summary:
Everett Adult Learning Center is looking for ESL Teachers who have experience in working with a diverse classroom. EALC serves residents from ages 18 to 80 and different countries of origins. EALC’s goal is to help residents strengthen their English speaking and writing skills. Language barriers are one of the most difficult tasks when communicating, the ideal ESL teacher for EALC is someone who is patient and can find ways to communicate with residents with different languages.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging English language lessons tailored to the needs and proficiency levels of students.
- Create lesson plans that focus on reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
- Use a variety of teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles.
- Provide constructive feedback to students on their performance and areas for improvement.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and learning.
- Establish and enforce classroom rules and expectations.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the ESL curriculum.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate language learning with other subjects.
- Provide additional support to students who may be struggling with language acquisition.
- Promote an understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity in the classroom.
- Help students adapt to and navigate cultural differences as they learn English.
- Foster a learning environment that is respectful of all backgrounds.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant data.
Minimum Entrance Requirements:
- Adult Education : 1 year (Preferred)
- Teaching Certification (Preferred)
- Experience teaching adults (preferred)
- Curriculum development experience (at least 2 years)
- Must be able to develop/customize materials, lesson plans and learning objectives
- Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students
- Experience working with diverse student populations, preferred
- Bilingual (preferred)
