Postponed
The Earth Day Cleanup event has been postponed due to the forecasted weather. All activities at both Gateway Park and Glenwood Cemetery will not take place on Saturday. However, we are still committed to planting the 3,000 trees at Gateway Park. Which is why we will continue with the tree planting on Sunday, April 21, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Anyone who wishes to join us in helping with this effort is more than welcome to attend. If you are planning to attend, we ask that you please wear waterproof footwear as the grounds will be wet and muddy from the rain. Those who registered will be contacted through the email address that was provided to inform participants about the cancellation and new update. You do not need to re-register if you are planning on coming down on Sunday. Thank you to everyone who registered, and we apologize to those who were looking forward to participating in the event on Saturday. It was not an easy decision to make. Hope to see you on Sunday!

Mayor DeMaria Asks All Residents to Participate in
Annual Earth Day Cleanup

All are welcome to register to help plant 3,000 trees and beautify Gateway Park and Glenwood Cemetery

In celebration of Earth Day, which is recognized every year on April 22 to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement, the City will join with community members and local organizations to plant 3,000 trees at Gateway Park. In order to reach this goal, the Mayor is asking all residents to join in on this community effort to help improve Everett’s environment.

Participants will have the opportunity to mulch and plant trees that will help improve the environment and the public park’s green space. Some of the benefits of planting trees include reducing energy usage, removing air pollutants, filtering stormwater, and cooling urban areas by providing shade and releasing water vapor.

In addition to planting trees at Gateway Park, those who wish to participate can choose to help beautify Glenwood Cemetery upon registering. This option is limited to 30 volunteers.

Following the cleanup and planting efforts, the City will be hosting a free cookout at 12 p.m. at Gateway Park for all who participated in the event. Those who wish to participate must register before the event.
