Position Summary:

The City of Everett Parent Information Center Nurse oversees the medical information for students entering the Everett Public School. The role is expected to ensure that all children entering the Everett Public School System are up to date with all medical information.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures student immunization status meets Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulations.
  • Report immunization status of school entrants to the schools.
  • Review all records for incoming Everett students and ensure they are complete for school entry.
  • Set up health charts for students that are approved for school entry.
  • Reach out to student’s parent/guardian for missing health information, as needed.
  • Maintain individual health records for each student.
  • Collaborates with parents, physicians and other health care providers, as needed
  • Carry out communicable disease’s prevention and infection control.
  • Input all health information into school reporting system, Aspen X2.
  • Notify school nurse of any student with allergies or complex medical conditions.
  • Deliver all completed health charts to their respective schools on a weekly basis.
  • Assist in covering school building when needed.
  • Promotes a healthy safe school environment within the school building for students and staff.
  • Assist with health department programming and services as needed.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:

  • Valid license as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience.
  • Nursing experience in school, pediatric, public health or other relevant clinical area preferred
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have the use of a vehicle for the performance of one’s duties.
  • Maintains certification in CPR/AED and First Aid from a recognized provider, e.g. American Heart Association.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism and maturity in handling sensitive information, participant interaction, and community relations.
  • Demonstrated facilitation and public speaking skills.

  • Ability to organize, plan, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Provide nursing coverage to school’s as needed
