Position Summary

The Recreation and Enrichment Manager oversees the planning, development, and management of programs and services offered through the City of Everett’s Youth Development and Enrichment Department. This role is responsible for creating dynamic recreational and enrichment opportunities, managing after-school programming, coordinating park permits, and ensuring effective operations using MyRec software or equivalent. The ideal candidate has a strong background in recreation, youth development, and enrichment programming, with a passion for fostering community engagement and youth success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Program Development and Management:

  • Plan, organize, and oversee recreation and enrichment programs, both indoor and outdoor, including youth sports, after-school activities, and special events.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements to meet community needs.

Facility and Park Management:

  • Coordinate Park and public space permitting for recreational use and events.
  • Oversee scheduling and operations of the Everett Recreation Center and affiliated facilities.

Staff Supervision:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise program staff and volunteers, ensuring a positive and professional work environment. This includes vendors for programming.
  • Develop staff schedules and provide ongoing mentorship to maintain high-quality services.

Community Engagement:

  • Collaborate with community organizations, schools, and local agencies to develop partnerships and expand programming opportunities.
  • Act as a liaison between the department and the community, addressing feedback and fostering relationships.

Technology and Software Management:

  • Utilize MyRec software for program registration, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate records of program participation, park permits, and financial transactions.

Budget and Administrative Oversight:

  • Assist with budget preparation and monitor expenditures to ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for leadership on program outcomes and goals.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience in Recreation, Management, Business Administration, Youth Development, or a related field in lieu of education considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a setting working with youth, including program development, facility management, or youth programming and coaching.

Preferred Experience:

  • Background in after-school programming or youth development.
  • Experience with MyRec software or equivalent for program administration.
  • Familiarity with park permitting processes.
  • CPRP (Certified Parks and Recreation Professional) or similar accreditation a plus but not required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to engage with diverse groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other digital tools relevant to recreation management.

Work Environment:

  • The position requires a combination of office work and on-site supervision at parks, facilities, and events.
  • Evening and weekend availability may be required to support programming.

Physical Demands & Working Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. In addition, the employee frequently is required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This job’s specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. In addition, this position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
