Shift: Monday-Thursday 10am-7pm, Friday 2pm-7pm, Saturday 9am-12pm. Subject to change based on needs of department.

Position Summary:
The Youth Development Coordinator will play a vital role in enhancing the overall well-being and development of the youth in the city of Everett, MA. This dynamic position involves planning, organizing, and overseeing a variety of recreational programs and activities aimed at fostering physical, social, and educational growth among the community’s youth. The ideal candidate should have a passion for working with young people, possess strong organizational and leadership skills, and be committed to creating a positive and inclusive environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Youth Engagement:
• Actively engage with youth participants to understand their needs, interests, and concerns.
• Build positive relationships with participants, serving as a mentor and role model.
2. Coaching and Instruction:
• Provide coaching and instruction for sports and other recreational activities.
• Create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages skill development and teamwork.
3. Workforce Development:
• Work closely with the Assistant Workforce Development Director to expand the working opportunities for the youth of Everett by actively pursuing new relationships with worksites, developing the youth through mock interview processes and helping them develop business acumen skills.
4. Versatility in Roles:
• Seamlessly transition between different responsibilities within the recreation center, including program coordination, event support, workforce development and administrative tasks.
5. Youth Engagement and Mentorship:
• Build positive relationships with youth participants, serving as a mentor and role model, and contribute to creating a supportive and inclusive environment.
6. Collaboration:
• Collaborate with other recreation staff, volunteers, and community partners to enhance program offerings and address the diverse needs of the youth community.
7. Facility Oversight:
• Ensure that recreation facilities are conducive to a positive recreational experience.
• Custodial duties as necessary at the Recreation Center.
• Assist in addressing any immediate facility-related issues and report them to the appropriate channels.
8. Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of program participation, feedback, and outcomes.
• Provide regular reports on program effectiveness and suggest improvements.
Minimum Entrance Requirements:
• 3 plus years previous experience in organizing and leading recreational programs for youth.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required. Experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
• Basic computer and MS Office skills.
• Bilingual candidate preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Physical Demands & Working Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. In addition, the employee frequently is required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This job’s specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. In addition, this position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
