Partnership for Success Grant

Mission
To promote collaboration between community partners, and to utilize education and prevention strategies to decrease the use of non-medical use of prescription and over-the-counter drugs.

Function

  • Our role is to prevent prescription and OTC drug misuse and abuse among high school aged youth in Everett.
  • NMUPD is the intentional or unintentional use of a prescribed medication in a manner contrary to directions, regardless of whether a harmful outcome occurs.
  • The goal of Partnership for Success (PFS) is to build relationships in the community to gain a better understanding of the specific needs of the community.
  • Our program emphasizes the integration of the national Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) strategic prevention framework (SPF) model into overall prevention systems, in order to ensure a consistent data-driven planning process focused on implementing effective and sustainable strategies and interventions.

Community Grant Initiatives
The City of Everett was awarded the Partnerships for Success (PFS) Grant in 2015. This is a primary prevention grant that focuses on preventing and reducing non-medical use of prescription drugs among high school-aged youth. PFS is a part of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) comprehensive approach towards preventing substance use disorder in Massachusetts.

Everett’s PFS Grant is coordinated out of the Everett Board of Health, and works in collaboration with Everett Public Schools, Everett Community Health Partnership-Substance Abuse Coalition (ECHP-SAC), Cambridge Health Alliance’s Community Health Improvement Department, Everett Police Department and other youth-serving entities in Everett to achieve our goals.
