ENG-26-120 Lead Services Replacement – Ph. IV

Description:

The City of Everett is requesting sealed bids for Lead Service work replacing Lead water lines throughout the city.

The Work of this Contract generally consists of the replacement of suspected lead water service connections on Adams Avenue, Amos Terrace, Ashton Street, Bell Rock Street, Bettison Avenue, Calhoun Avenue, Clarence Street, Clay Avenue, Clifton Avenue, Dartmouth Street, Dean Street, Edith Street, Elm Street, Freeman Avenue, Freemont Street, Fremont Avenue, Garland Street, Garland Way, Glendale Avenue, Griswold Street, Hancock Street, Harding Avenue, Harvard Street, Haskell Avenue, Jackson Avenue, Jefferson Avenue, Lawrence Street, Lewis Street, Liberty Street, Lincoln Street, Madison Avenue, Maplewood Avenue, Mead Street, Moreland Place, Mt. Washington Street, Nichols Street, Parlin Street, Richdale Avenue, Shute Street, Springvale Avenue, Summer Street, Wellington Avenue, Wilbur Street, Woodlawn Street, Woodlawn Avenue, Woodside Avenue. Approximately 26 services will require full replacement from the water main to the house, approximately 52 services will be replaced from the water main to the curb stop, and approximately 86 services will be replaced from the curb stop to the house.  Additionally, in the service area there are approximately 155 services identified as lead status unknown and may contain lead.  Up to three test pits will be required for each service with unknown material and the service will be replaced if lead is identified or at the discretion of the City and the Engineer. The Work also includes approximately 20 additional services at the discretion of the City and Engineer. Service connections shall be replaced with 3/4-inch, 1-inch, and 2-inch copper tubing as required in the field. All locations shall be restored to equal or better than prior conditions including pavement, sidewalk and curbing restoration, and loam and seed.

MassDOT prequalification of contractors with the class of work as, Sewer & Water, for the project with an estimated value of $2,630,224 will be required.  Prospective bidders are not expected to submit a R109 form.  Contractors may obtain informational copies of the bid documents, but will not be considered an eligible bidder without having obtained MassDOT prequalification prior to the date and time of the bid opening.  The Contract will only be awarded to a MassDOT prequalified contractor.

All work is pursuant to the requirements of M.G.L c. 30, § 39M and all other applicable provisions of the Massachusetts General Laws.
