Board of Appeals
The Board of Appeals shall be responsible to hear and decide appeals in accordance with MGL 40A, applications for special permits and variances upon which the Board is empowered to act. The Board is also responsible to hear and decide petitions for variances, and special permits based on zoning denial letters from the building inspector.

Online Permitting
The City of Everett is pleased to offer residents, organizations and businesses the ability to apply, pay for, and receive building, electrical, gas, plumbing, and mechanical permits online. Users will also have the ability to check the status of permits and inspections.
Building
The Division of Building Inspection and Maintenance shall be responsible for the enforcement of the state building code pertaining to buildings and other structures and for enforcement of related ordinances in the Revised Ordinances of the city of Everett, including, but not limited to the local zoning ordinance and Massachusetts State Building Code.
Code Enforcement
The Dvision of Code Enforcement shall be responsible for the enforcement of chapters 105 and 13A of the Revised Ordinances of the City of Everett; enforce all relevant ordinances; maintain a high quality of life for all Everett residents; working in conjunction with the Office of the City Solicitor, prosecute all infractions and violations of city ordinance; perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Electrical and Wire
The Division of Electrical Inspections and Maintenance shall be responsible for the enforcement of the state building code applicable to electrical wires and electrical fixtures and shall be responsible for the ordinary maintenance of electrical wires and fixtures in city buildings and other structures including all city recreational facilities; the operation and maintenance of the electrical components of the traffic regulatory signals and devices and fire alarm signals and devices; and the enforcement of related ordinances in the Revised Ordinances of the city of Everett.
Health and Sanitation
The Division of Health and Sanitation shall be responsible for enforcement of all provisions of the state sanitary code promulgated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health which are subject to enforcement by cities and towns; adoption from time to time of additional regulations as are necessary or desirable to protect the public health of the residents of Everett; and enforcement of all regulations so promulgated by the Board of Health.
Licensing Commission
The License Commission is charged with the responsibility of issuing licenses and enforcing rules, regulations, local ordinances, and state laws pertaining to the sale of alcoholic beverages; the Licensing Commission shall promulgate all regulations necessary for the application local ordinance and state law.
Plumbing and Gas
The Division of Plumbing shall be responsible for the enforcement of the state building code applicable to plumbing and for enforcement of related ordinances in the Revised Ordinances of the city of Everett.
Weights and Measures
The Division of Weights and Measures is responsible for enforcing all laws, regulations and ordinances pertaining measuring devices used by local business establishments, such as taxi meters, gas station pumps, home heating oil truck meters, and hospital, clinic, truck, factory, shopping and pharmacy scales.
