BLACK HISTORY MONTH MOVIE EVENT – “Bessie”

Mayor Carlo DeMaria invites all residents to join us for this event as part of the City of Everett’s celebration of Black History Month.
Starring Queen Latifah as American Blues Singer Bessie Smith. As a young singer from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Bessie and her sibling were left orphaned leaving their abusive older sister to raise them. To help support the family, Bessie worked in Vaudeville shows. She pushed her way into the business and finally got a record deal. Eventually, her success dries up only to lead to a comeback.
