Shift: Generally, Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with one regularly scheduled late day from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Work hours may be adjusted based on departmental needs. Regular evening attendance at City Council meetings and other municipal meetings is required, along with occasional evening and weekend hours to support City events, live broadcasts, and other Communications Department initiatives.

About the Role:
Under the direction of the Mayor and Director of Communications, the Community Media & ECTV Producer is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, programming, and content development of Everett Community Television (ECTV).
This position manages live and recorded government programming while producing original content that informs, educates, and engages Everett residents. The Community Media & ECTV Producer plays a key role in strengthening ECTV as a valuable community resource by developing local programming, supporting public access initiatives, managing station operations, and collaborating with residents, organizations, and City departments to tell Everett’s stories across television, digital, and streaming platforms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations, programming schedule, and content distribution of Everett Community Television (ECTV).
- Produce and oversee live and recorded coverage of City Council meetings, public hearings, board and commission meetings, municipal events, and other government programming.
- Develop, produce, film, edit, and distribute original content that highlights City services, public safety initiatives, community events, local organizations, and stories that inform and engage Everett residents.
- Coordinate and support public access programming opportunities while building relationships with residents, schools, nonprofit organizations, and community partners to expand local content and participation in ECTV.
- Capture professional-quality video and photography for ECTV, the City website, social media channels, and other communications initiatives.
- Manage video archives, website uploads, streaming platforms, and television programming systems to ensure content is accurate, accessible, and available to the public.
- Monitor broadcasts, maintain production equipment, troubleshoot technical issues, and recommend improvements to station operations and technology.
- Collaborate with the Communications Department, Information Technology Department, and other City departments to support communications, public engagement, and multimedia projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Education

- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Production, Journalism, Broadcasting, or a related field.
Experience
-
- 3-5 years of experience in television production, community media, public access television, digital content production, or a related field; municipal or government experience preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of television production, videography, photography, video editing, live broadcasting, and digital media distribution.
- Proficiency operating professional video, audio, lighting, streaming, and broadcast production equipment.
- Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and other content creation software.
- Working knowledge of television automation and programming systems such as TelVue HyperCaster, TelVue Connect, NewTek TriCaster, or similar platforms.
- Strong storytelling, interviewing, and content development skills with the ability to create engaging programming for diverse audiences.
- Ability to plan, produce, film, edit, and distribute content across television, website, streaming, and social media platforms.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical and production-related issues and adapt quickly in live production environments.
- Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, community organizations, elected officials, City staff, and external partners.
- Familiarity with municipal government, public access television, or community media is preferred.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole is preferred.
- Possession of a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
Physical Demands & Working Environment:
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Work effort principally involves sitting to perform work tasks, with intermittent periods of movement. Work will require some agility and physical strength, such as moving in or about construction sites or over rough terrain. Employee may occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
- Job duties require minimal motor skills for activities such as moving objects, operating a personal computer and/or standard office equipment, typing and/or word processing, filing, sorting of papers.
