Position Summary:
Under the Supervision of the Director of the Election Commission, the Elections Coordinator will assist in the responsibilities of coordinating voter registration and elections operations. Correspondence with voters by phone and mailings is often needed. Perform routine to complex administrative and customer service functions assisting the Election Commissioner through the maintenance and administration of the City’s election records and files.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains voter registration information.
- Register voters.
- Coordinate, assist training of poll workers.
- Help in maintaining and coordinating ballot drop off boxes, including general maintenance of drop off boxes, ballot pick up times, staffing, and securing during elections.
- Coordinate with director to oversee daily processing of ballots during elections.
- Provide information to elected officials, the general public and other city departments.
- Notarize documents.
- Assists in-person absentee voters/early voters: verifies voter’s signature, residence and voter status, provides voter with the required paperwork and verifies its completion, provides voter with a ballot, logs the request into the state Voter Registration Information System computer and files the sealed ballot in the designated, secured location.
- Assists with processing mailed absentee/early voting/vote by mail ballot applications: verifies the applications are complete, verifies voter’s signature, residence and voter status, logs the request into the state Voter Registration Information System and mails the required materials to the voter.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Entrance Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills.
- Proficient in Windows, Microsoft word, Excel and/or other spreadsheet software.
- Background in all aspects of clerical, organizational and confidential communication skills.
- Two-three years’ experience working in Elections preferred.
- Certified Notary Public is a plus. Certification may be offered to candidate if selected.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, use hands, and reach.
- Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 20lb.
