RECYCLING MATTRESSES AND BOX SPRINGS

Due to State regulations, it is now required that all mattresses and box springs be recycled. Residents must purchase stickers from City Hall to pay for the cost of recycling and to schedule a pickup.

  • The cost to recycle the first mattress or box spring is $70.00.
  • For each additional mattress or box spring, the cost is $45.00 per item.
  • These fees must be paid with cash only at the Collector’s Office.
  • Maximum of 3 mattresses and/or box springs per pick up.

HOW DOES THE MATTRESS RECYCLING PROGRAM WORK?

Residents who need to recycle mattresses and box springs must make the appropriate payment at the Collector’s Office located on the first floor of Everett City Hall (484 Broadway, Everett).
After payment, the clerk will inform the resident when the item(s) will be picked up, which will also be noted on the receipt. The resident will also be given a sticker and plastic bags for each individual mattress or box spring that was paid for to be placed inside.
After putting any mattresses or box springs inside the plastic bags and placing the stickers on either the bag or items, the items should be placed curbside on the day that is noted.

FRIENDLY TIP: Many retailers may either take away your old mattress and box spring for free or for a small fee when they deliver your new items. Be sure to ask about this option when purchasing your new mattress or box spring to see if you can save money.
