As winter weather approaches, the City of Everett is preparing for the snow season (Dec 2025 – Apr 2026) with updated parking rules and a fully coordinated snow-removal plan.

City staff met to review snow operations and ensure that staffing, equipment and procedures are ready for the months ahead. Both City-owned and contracted plows, sanders, loaders and sidewalk plows will be deployed as needed throughout the season. During major storms, crews will operate in rotating split shifts to keep main roads, side streets and sidewalks clear. In the days following significant snow events, the Department of Public Works (DPW) will continue plowing and coordinating additional snow removal to ensure safe travel.

Parking Rules for the 2026 Snow Season

This year’s snow season ends in 2026 – an even numbered year – meaning that from December 2025 through March/April 2026, all vehicles must park on the even-numbered side of the street during a declared snow parking ban.

Additional rules include:

  • Secondary streets: If parking is normally allowed on both sides, vehicles must park only on the even-numbered side during a ban.

  • One-sided parking streets: Continue parking on the usual designated side.

  • Main arteries: Parking is always prohibited during a snow parking ban.

A full list of main arteries includes: Alpine Ave., Bellrock Ave., Broadway, Bryant St., Bucknam St., Chelsea St., Elm St., Ferry St., Fuller St., Garland St. (easterly side), Hancock St., High St., Lawrence St., Lynn St., Main St., Nichols St., Norwood St., Second St., Tileston St., Tremont St., and Union St.

Vehicles that do not follow parking ban regulations may be ticketed and towed.

How Residents Will Be Notified

The City will announce snow parking bans using multiple communication channels, including:

  • Robo-calls

  • Everett Community Television (ECTV)

  • City of Everett social media accounts

  • The City website

  • Blue emergency lights along main roadways

  • Calling Constituent Services at 617-394-2270

Snow Safety Reminders

Residents are reminded to:

  • Never shovel snow back into the street — this disrupts plowing operations and may result in fines.

  • Wait until the storm ends before clearing driveway entrances when possible, as plows must continue to push snow to keep streets clear.

  • Refrain from using objects to reserve street parking spaces, which is prohibited by City ordinance.

  • If snowbanks block access to sidewalks, residents may place trash bags on top of snowbanks for collection; however, this is only allowed when bins cannot reasonably be placed at the curb.

  • Clear at least three feet of snow around fire hydrants to assist Everett Fire Department personnel during emergencies.

Parking Available in Municipal Lots

During snow parking bans, residents with parking stickers may legally park their vehicle in one of the municipal parking lots located within the city. Once the snow parking ban has been lifted, those who are parked in a municipal parking lot must remove their vehicle immediately. View this map to find where Everett’s municipal lots are located:

The City of Everett thanks residents for their cooperation and ask for everyone’s continued support in ensuring a safe and successful snow season.
