City Council

Function

The City Council is the legislative body of the City of Everett. Councilors are elected every two years in odd-numbered years by the residents of Everett. The Council is made up of six ward councilors who represent individual neighborhoods and five at-large councilors who represent the entire city.

The City Council serves as a link between Everett residents and their local government. Councilors work with constituents to connect them to City services, resources, and departments, and they advocate on behalf of the community.

Through ordinances, policies, and budget review, the City Council helps guide the future of Everett and works to ensure the city remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

2026 City Council Committee Assignments

The Clerk of Committees, in conjunction with the chair of a committee, shall schedule committee meetings, in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations, either at their discretion or upon the written demand of a majority of their committee members.

In the absence of the chair at any committee meeting, the next named member of the committee present shall serve as chairman.

A quorum for a committee meeting shall consist of a majority of the entire membership of that committee; this shall be three members for four-member committees. If necessary, the city council president’s attendance at a committee meeting, as an ex-officio member, can be utilized to establish and/or maintain a quorum. In such an event, the president shall have all voting and debating rights afforded to a committee member.
