WHAT’S ON THIS PAGE:
The Everett Election Commission is now accepting applications for poll workers for upcoming elections and is encouraging residents to play an active role in the democratic process.
Poll workers are essential to ensuring elections are safe, secure, organized, and accessible for every voter. Everett operates 18 polling locations across the city, each staffed by a team responsible for checking in voters, assisting residents, maintaining election records, and overseeing voting operations.
Who Can Apply?
- Any registered voter in Massachusetts
- No experience necessary
- Training provided
The City encourages bilingual residents to apply. Federal language access requirements established by the U.S. Department of Justice require language assistance for voters, making multilingual poll workers an important part of ensuring every eligible resident can participate in the electoral process.
Seniors, veterans, students, working professionals, retirees, and first-time applicants are also encouraged to apply.
What Do Poll Workers Do?
- Assist voters at polling locations
- Verify voter information
- Help maintain a smooth and orderly voting process
- Ensure election laws and procedures are followed
Each polling location requires several key positions:
Inspectors check voters in, verify voter information, and assist with the voting process.
Clerks maintain election records and document precinct activity throughout Election Day.
Wardens oversee polling operations, supervise the precinct, and are responsible for the ballot box and overall management of the polling location.
Paid Positions
Poll workers are paid for their service on Election Day.
Starting pay is $260. An additional $50 stipend is provided for completing the required state training.
Compensation is issued in a single payment following the election.
Election Day Hours
Workers will report by 6:30 AM on September 1st and remain until polls close and cleanup is complete.
Note: There are two mandatory training sessions on August 10 and 12. Multiple morning and evening sessions, typically about 1 hour long, are available to accommodate schedules. Attendance is required at only one of these sessions.

Poll workers are being recruited to serve for both the September 1, 2026 State Primary and the November 3, 2026 State Election. Selected applicants will help staff Everett’s 18 polling locations and support voters throughout both election days.
Serving as a poll worker is a unique opportunity to support your community, protect the integrity of local elections, meet fellow residents, and earn extra income while making a meaningful civic contribution.
